Gua Tempurung Cave Tour at Perak, Malaysia

For those who are interested to go for the Gua Tempurung Cave Tour, for your information, the official website of Gua Tempurung (operated by APT Consortium Sdn Bhd) is actually out of date. I had difficulties trying to call in to book. But after numerous calls and resourcing, manage to connect to the main person-in-charge(PIC).

Their current tour policy is that you don't need to call-in to book, but instead, the PIC advised us to come in early in the morning by 9am. You may double confirm with them through Whatsapp at the contact number below if you're unsure. Me and my partner was looking to go for the extreme tour (approx. 4 hours), so we arrived on time to make the payment and necessary preparation.

After making the payment, the counter attendant will ask you to pass the ticket at the pink counter to confirm the tour package that you're going (as shown in the picture below) before choosing the head gears. Head gears are provided for free.

The pink counter to show the ticket attendant your tour package
After confirming, you may need to wait for the rest of the people to arrive (which is a bummer because they will only start if they reached a limit of 20-30pax or until 10am). If you're rushing for time, or have a tight schedule for the rest of the day, I suggest you to not take the extreme tour, or reschedule your other appointments to another time. That's why it's very important if you plan ahead!

We started at approximately 10am. There was a short safety briefing before we start.
The tour guide will double check if you're wearing the correct shoes and clothing apparels before you start, so make sure you're wearing the recommended materials.

A total of 30pax was joining the extreme tour. As there was a lot of people in the group, the traveling is also longer too. You will need to wait for other people to arrive at the same spot, or wait for the other tour groups to clear the area before going ahead, etc. It's really a lot of waiting (faints)! After all, the time we attended the tour was during the year end school holidays (not a really recommended time as many people like me are clearing off their annual leaves as well lol).

The excitement begins when you're required to turn on your torchlights and crawl through narrowed river caves, squeezed through small holes, and slide down a few metres high cave-slide. If you're afraid of heights, you might find this challenging, but the tour guide is very experience and would ensure your safety at all times. I was also scared of heights, but you gotta tell yourself that :
(1) If a kid can do it, you can do it too (There's literally plenty of 12 year old kids who find it fun sliding down lol)
(2) If you can't slide, you're making others who are impatiently waiting for you! (So, just get it done instead of making others wait)

So, yes, I made it down safely anyway.

After 2 hours into the tour, we reached the end-point of an open cave and we're required to U-Turn to go back. The tour guide gave us time to rest, take pictures, and explore the area, while they take their own lunch (Ughh)!! At that point, it was already 12pm++ and we're all very hungry. So, remember to bring some snacks with you to curb that hunger. We waited quite long before continuing the tour.

By the time we finished, it was around 2pm++, and we're glad that we finally get to shower and clean ourselves after the tour.

Overall, it was a cool and interesting experience, but a lot of waiting time.
Worth to visit for first timers in Ipoh.
